We are a support group for people who have sustained a brain injury. Our group is made up of people who have themselves suffered the brain injury, and people who care for them and support them in any way or fashion. If you know of someone that needs encouragement this is the group for you. We are a bunch of caring and fun-loving folk. We come in every size and color, LOL!! For out of us all, someone has walked or is walking the road you are on! We understand!! Even if your loved one cannot attend or is unable to come, YOU are welcome!
One of our regular participants wrote the following poem when he was in a nursing home and encouraged by a staff member to begin writing. It says a lot!
Jacked Up!
I took life for granted
Then came a big surprise
Time to learn to walk again and talk again
Can't get caught up in the "Why Me's?"
They will defeat you from within
They will twist your mind
and convince you
It's a battle you can't win
(Created, reluctantly, by Peter Stewart)
We meet the second Saturday of each month from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at the Peggy Seegars Senior Center located at 2001 E Ash St., Goldsboro, NC 27533. We would love to see and welcome you! For contact or questions call Pier Protz, 919-394-1091 or pierprotz@renulife.org
