Wrap Up the Year By Becoming a Friend!

Literacy Connections is celebrating a year of tremendous growth and inviting the community to renew or join its Friends of Literacy program as 2025 draws to a close.

After more than a decade in its previous location, Literacy Connections relocated to Downtown Goldsboro, placing its programs in the heart of the community where students, families, and partners can more easily connect. The move provided a larger learning center for one-on-one tutoring, the Terrace Room event venue, and Round About Books, a youth-led bookstore that provides job training for opportunity youth. Both the Terrace Room and the bookstore help raise funds to support literacy services throughout Wayne County.

“Even during our move, many of our students and tutors kept meeting at the public library to stay connected and continue learning,” said Executive Director Suzie Acree.

One shining example is Dynasty, a Round About Books intern who began attending Wayne Community College during her internship. She continues working toward her business degree, now employed locally and returning to help as an Event Host in the Terrace Room. Her journey reflects the full circle of learning, opportunity, and community that Literacy Connections strives to create.

As 2025 comes to a close, we invite every neighbor, business, and friend to invest in this mission. Your membership or gift helps adults read, parents support their children, and youth gain the skills to succeed. Become a member today:  https://www.tfaforms.com/4828095

TOGETHER WE ARE GROWING A LITERACY RICH COMMUNITY.
