Goldsboro/Wayne Purple Heart Foundation to Host Eleventh Annual Purple Heart Banquet and Ceremony

The Goldsboro/Wayne Purple Heart Banquet Committee will honor Goldsboro/Wayne area Purple Heart recipients and their families 6:00 pm on Saturday 5 August 2023, at the Maxwell Convention Center, located 3114 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534. This banquet and ceremony are the eleventh annual for Goldsboro, but the first time many of the veterans will be publicly honored for their sacrifice and service.

The Purple Heart decoration is awarded to those who have been wounded or killed while serving with the U.S. Military. The Purple Heart ceremony will honor Goldsboro/Wayne area Purple Heart recipients along with their families, and families of deceased Purple Heart recipients, with special recognition to those killed in action.

This year’s event will include a pre-dinner reception exclusively for Purple Heart recipients at 5:00. Family members and guests will be escorted to the dining hall for seating and reception at 5:00 as well. Recipients will be escorted through a Sabre Salute “Walk of Honor” beginning the ceremony at 6:00. Each honoree will be introduced with their military branch, years of service, and where the Purple Heart was received.
