Beak Week Scavenger Hunt

Get ready for a scavenger hunt like none other in downtown Goldsboro! Goldie the Chicken and Seymour the Turkey are at it again! They have dressed up in all their finest garb and hidden themselves all over Downtown Goldsboro from August 31st – Sept. 9th. Can you find them? Stop by the Arts Council of Wayne County for a worksheet to participate. www.artsinwayne.org.

September 7th – 10th

Beak Week

Celebrate Wayne County's poultry industry at Beak Week! Join us for the 3rd Annual Beak Week Festival on Saturday September 10th, on South Center Street for live bands, great food, a professional BBQ cook-off, kids’ activities and more! 10 am – 6 pm. Other Beak Week activities include the Chicken Chase 5K on Wednseday, Fowl Play attorneys vs. doctors softball game on Thursday and much more! Beak Week Wing Fling & Cornhole Tournament

Boys & Girls Club will once again host the People’s Choice Wing Competition on the 200 block of South Center Street. Professional cook teams will cook up their signature wings and let YOU decide who makes them best. Try 10 wings for just $5. While you’re there, grab some buddies and enter the ACO Beak Week Tailgate Bash cornhole tournament. Registration begins at 4pm; tournament starts at 7pm. The Fara 5K

Sponsored by Outback Steakhouse and Golds’s Gym. Come out and help support FARA which is dedicated to the study and treatment of Friedreich’s ataxia(FA), a debilitating, life shortening, degenerative neuro-muscular disorder. Center Stage Theatre Presents: Into the Woods

The musical was adapted into a feature film by Disney in 2014 which has increased its popularity greatly. One of Sondheim’s most popular works, Into the Woods is a musically sophisticated show with dark comedy and fantastical elements.

Goldsboro Ballet’s Love of Dance/Silent Auction

Love of Dance is Goldsboro Ballet’s way of giving back to the community by creating an evening variety of dance ensemble pieces from guest choreographers. Goldsboro Ballet dancers met the challenge of dancing in June or July to learn these pieces of work. Everything from Liturgical Dance to Contemporary, Jazz, and Modern as well as Classical Ballet will be presented in between viewing of the Silent Auction items and bidding. Wayne Shrine Club Fish Fry

Come to Herman Park in Goldsboro or Hwy 55 next to Roberts Machine Shop on September 30th from 11a.m. – 2p.m. for lunch or dinner from 4p.m. to 7p.m. for great fish fry plates with all net proceeds benefitting the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
