Jobs Forum for Military Spouses Planned in Fayetteville
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Blue Star Families is hosting a forum this week in Fayetteville to help military spouses find employment.
The Fayetteville Observer reports (http://bit.ly/2bvGHdZ) the forum titled "Networks Live!" will be held Thursday at the Kiwanis Recreation Center.
A survey by Blue Star Families showed that about 40 percent of military families identified unemployment of a spouse as a major obstacle to financial security. Fifty-eight percent of surveyed spouses said they're unemployed or underemployed.
Blue Star Families career programs manager Libby Jamison says the forum will be the first in a series of workshops and forums for spouses with ties to Fort Bragg.
She says most jobs are found through networking, which puts military spouses at a disadvantage because they move often and may have few ties to their new home.
