Authorities Look for Escapee From New Hanover Prison
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Authorities are searching for an inmate who they believe climbed a fence and escaped from the New Hanover Correctional Center.
N.C. Department of Public Safety spokesman Keith Acree said in a news release that 34-year-old Stephen Singleton was serving sentences for habitual misdemeanor assault and larceny and was due for release in January 2018.
He's believed to still be in the Wilmington area, according to officials.
