The Lobsters are Coming!
The Partnership for Children is currently taking orders for “a good claws”. Tickets are on sale for the Partnership’s 11th Annual Lobster & Shrimp Fest to be held on Friday, May 1st. The public is invited to order $25.00 tickets for a 1.25 lb. Maine lobster. Shrimp will also be available for non-lobster lovers. Lobsters and shrimp can be picked up on May 1st at the Partnership Office at 800 N. William Street between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Lobsters will be available either live or cooked, and shrimp can be ordered either cooked or frozen. All orders must be placed in advance by Wednesday, April 24th. While individual tickets are available, the Partnership is also looking for families who will hold lobster parties in their homes and invite their guests to purchase the lobster and shrimp tickets. A portion of the ticket price is tax deductible. Remember, YOUR LOBSTER MATTERS!
Partnership Executive Director Charlie Ivey reminds us that proceeds go towards various projects and services provided by the Partnership. These include fellowships for child care teachers who are continuing their education at Wayne Community College or the University of Mount Olive; training for child care providers and parents, as well as events for pre-school children during the year. The Partnership for Children’s mission is to provide or connect families with early care & education, health, and family support services needed for young children. Improving child-care quality through teacher education is one of the Partnership’s major objectives.
Tickets may be purchased by calling the Partnership office directly (919-735-3371) or by contacting a Partnership Board Director or Committee member. For more information about the Lobster/Shrimp Fest, contact Thomas Nevins at the Partnership at extension 239.
