The Home Builders Association of Wayne County and the Goldsboro/Wayne County Association of Realtors are sponsoring the second annual 2015 Home & Garden Expo at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. They will kick the Expo off with a 5K run to benefit the Wounded Warriors Project on Saturday April 18th (Registration at 8:00 AM and Run starts at 8:30 AM) followed by the opening of the Expo at 10:00AM. Volunteer Annual Spring Plant Sale
The Wayne County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers will be holding their annual spring plant sale at the Wayne County Cooperative Extension office at 208 W. Chestnut Street in Goldsboro. Doors will open at 9am. The sale will have a variety of plants to choose from including: perennials, annuals, shrubs, trees, herbs and vegetable transplants. There will also be a raffle for various gardening items including a rain barrel. Extension Master Gardener Volunteers will be on hand to answer gardening questions. Wayne County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers are training volunteers for Wayne County Cooperative Extension who assist with educational gardening extension programs. Cures for the Colors
Assisting Cancer patients in Eastern NC
Friday, April 24th is Family night, which starts at 5p.m. at Wayne Community College with food, childen’s activities and entertainment. Opening ceremony starts at 7p.m. with the childhood cancer balloon release and lantern release. Saturday, the 25th is the 5k run, team run and beginner 1-mile run. There will be medals for all participants and awards for the top fundraisers. All proceeds will be used to assist cancer patients and their families in Wayne County and Eastern North Carolina. The Partnership for Children is currently taking orders for “a good claws”. Tickets are on sale for the Partnership’s 11th Annual Lobster & Shrimp Fest to be held on Friday, May 1st. The public is invited to order $25.00 tickets for a 1.25 lb. Maine lobster. Shrimp will also be available for non-lobster lovers. Lobsters and shrimp can be picked up on May 1st at the Partnership Office at 800 N. William Street between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. All orders must be place by April 24th.
