Your Immediate Help is Needed!
Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserves which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. The program was founded in 1947 by reservist Major Bill Hendricks and is a not-for-profit public charity. In 1991 the Secretary of Defense authorized the creation and affiliation with the non-profit charity foundation. In 1995 the Secretary of Defense approved Toys for Tots as an official mission of the Marine Corps Reserve. They have distributed over 475 million toys over the years.
Wayne County’s Toys for Tots operation headed by Donald Peters is once again in need of Toys to distribute this Holiday season. Just a few days ago Mr. Peters told The Buzz that his toy supply was totally drained with last year’s distribution and is in dire need of more toys. He said without the generosity and help of the good people of Wayne County there could be some children going without toys this Holiday season if the supply is not replenished immediately.
