32nd Annual Letter Carrier’s Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

GOLDSBORO, NC – United Way of Wayne County is partnering with the National Association of Letter Carriers on this year’s Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday, May 11, 2024.


This is the letter carriers' campaign to help refill the shelves of the local pantries. Several agencies, namely The Community Soup Kitchen of Goldsboro, HGDC Community Crisis Center, The Salvation Army, The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, Pete Norris Ministries, AKA Sorority CHIP program, Hydrant Church, and UNC Health Wayne. This year’s goal is to collect 20,000 pounds of food. 


Residents who live in zip codes 27530, 27531, 27532, 27533, and 27534 will receive a postcard reminder of the food drive and a plastic bag to put the food donations in. On May 11, residents can leave their donations of non-perishable food items by their mailbox, and the letter carriers will collect them. Residents may also donate ahead of the food drive by leaving their donations in bins in the Berkeley Post Office and William Street Post Office lobbies. Items requested are non-perishable, unexpired, canned food items, including those with pop-up tops. 


Volunteers are needed to help load and unload donations on the food drive day. Volunteers should be able to lift at least 5 lbs. of weight and have no mobility restrictions.
