Drive By Shooting at Tommy Rd and Wayne Memorial Dr Results in Arrests

On Thursday, September 15, 2016 at approximately 12:30pm, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a drive-by shooting call at the convenience store at the corner of Tommy’s Road and Wayne Memorial Dr. While Deputies responded, the Goldsboro Police Department was advised that the possible suspects were operating a vehicle and headed into the city limits on Wayne Memorial Drive. An Officer in the area of New Hope Road saw a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle and occupied by two subjects matching the description of those involved in the shooting.

The suspect vehicle turned and traveled West on New Hope Rd. and then turned into the Somervale neighborhood where the initial Goldsboro Officer and a Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop. Additional Goldsboro Police and Wayne Sheriff’s officers also responded. Carlton Jackson was determined to be operating the vehicle and Fiante Amerson was the front seat passenger. Both were detained pending further investigation of the incident on Tommy’s Road.

Upon a search of the suspect vehicle and both suspects, Jackson was found to be in possession of a High Point 9mm handgun and Amerson possessed a small amount of marijuana. Amerson was issued a citation for Simple Possession of Marijuana, and released. Jackson was arrested and charged as listed below, and held in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $60,000.00 secure bond. His first court appearance will be 09/16/16.

This arrest and the charges filed were made through the cooperative efforts of both the Goldsboro Police Department and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. The Goldsboro Police Department will continue to work together with the Sheriff’s Office as it continues its investigation into the incident on Tommy’s road.
