2 Students Robbed at Gunpoint Inside NCCU Dorm Room

Thursday, August 25, 2016

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Officials say two armed robbery suspects held up two students inside a North Carolina Central University dorm room.

Campus police tell news agencies that the incident happened early Wednesday in the school's New Residence Hall 2.

One of the students told authorities that the two masked men knocked on his door just after midnight and pointed a gun at him when he opened it.

Police say the suspects restrained the resident, and another student who had walked in.

The suspects went through the room and took items. No one was hurt.

University spokeswoman Ayana Hernandez says police haven't released information on how the suspects got into the dorm. She says residence halls on campus require card keys for entrance by people who live there.

The search for the suspects continues.
