God is Greater!

It’s also the way to shut down debilitating self-criticism, even when there is something to it. For God is greater than our worried hearts and knows more about us than we do ourselves.” 1 John 3:18-20 MSG
For as long as I can remember, people have said, “I’m my own worst enemy.” With each passing day I have come to realize the deep truth in those few simple words. The very one that the devil or whom I refer to as our enemy, uses against us is our own self. We allow him to manipulate our thoughts and before we know it we are speaking negative and debilitating things about ourselves.
The enemy convinces us that we are not attractive or intelligent enough. He tells us that we will never achieve the dreams that God has placed in our hearts. He reminds us of our past mistakes and failures in hopes of discouraging us enough to stop us from continuing to try again. The enemy is the master of knowing exactly what upsets and worries each of us. His attacks are always calculated and personal.
But what we fail to do is read and then recall the good news found in the Word of God. It tells us that “God is greater than our worried hearts and knows more about us than we do!” What a mighty God we serve! He is greater than any attack the devil can throw at us. He is greater than any doubt or fear we may have. He is greater and mightier than all the negative things we think and feel about ourselves.
I challenge you this month to whisper, speak, or even SHOUT, “My God is Greater!” each time you begin to feel discouraged about your self-worth or importance.
In God’s eyes you are marvelous and His one of a kind work of art. The more you say it, the more it will penetrate your heart and mind. You will begin to then believe it in your soul. Our Creator is greater and it’s time we started living like it!
