Man indicted in connection with 2007 Wal-Mart bombing

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A federal grand jury has indicted a man accused of detonating a pipe bomb near small propane tanks inside a Wal-Mart in the North Carolina mountains.

U.S. Attorney Jill Westmoreland Rose said in a news release that 49-year-old Larry D. Bowlsby was indicted Wednesday on multiple charges after being accused of detonating an explosive device.

Authorities say Bowlsby walked into a Wal-Mart in Sylva on Sept. 26, 2007, placed the bomb into a shopping cart and detonated it. One person was injured.

Rose says investigators linked Bowlsby to the explosion from a fingerprint on the cart. At the time, the fingerprint yielded no matches, but that changed when agents ran it again in January.

Bowlsby was arrested May 24 in Missouri. It's unclear whether he has an attorney.
