Watch Me: A Tribute to My Mentor

One of the most beneficial components of success is to have people who inspire you. People who you know personally and people who you admire from afar. I have been blessed to have someone like that in my life. A person who inspires me personally to be a better person and professionally to achieve my dreams. This person is my brother, Jonathan Greeson. You may know Jonathan from his monthly Buzz articles on financial planning.

Jonathan was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy and has defied odds his entire life. When someone told him he could not, his attitude said, “watch me.” Our parents were told he would not live past the age of 2, but this month Jonathan will turn 40! When he was told he should not be in a traditional classroom or go to college, again he said, “watch me.” We all watched again when he began a wheelchair hockey program enabling athletes with disabilities to travel the continent playing a sport they love. Then, taking these skills and never-quit attitude to start a successful financial planning business.

Needless to say, his attitude and actions have been an inspiration to me to never give up nor let small obstacles hold me back. Jonathan is the one who puts things into perspective for me. He also guides me in business decisions. He is an inspiration and mentor to many. I chose to write about mentors this month in honor of my mentor’s 40th birthday. Happy Birthday, brother. Thank you for everything!
