Small Business Center Providing FREE Fall Seminars

The Small Business Center at Wayne Community College has scheduled more than a dozen seminars for aspiring and progressing entrepreneurs over the next few months.


Three series will be offered, two of which can lead to certificates. Seminars in these series can also be taken individually.


The “Social Media Power Hour Series” includes

The Science of Facebook: You Don’t Have To Pay To Play! – 10-11:30 a.m., Sept. 6;

All About Instagram: Stories and Hashtags and Reels. Oh My! - 10-11:30 a.m., Sept. 13;

Learn to Love LinkedIn: So Much More Than A Job Site! - 10-11:30 a.m., Sept. 20; and

The Power of Pinterest: It’s Not Just Crafts and Recipes! - 10-11:30 a.m., Sept. 27.

It does not result in a certificate.


Completion of the “Business Basics” seminars will lead to a certificate. They are

Discovering Your Unique Position – 6-8 p.m., Sept. 6;

The Keys To A Winning Small Business Plan - 6-8 p.m., Sept. 13;

Finding The Money For Your Small Business - 6-8 p.m., Sept. 27; and

Charting A Path to Success For Your Small Business - 6-8 p.m., Oct. 4.


Those who take all six-sessions in the “Entrepreneurship Academy” will be awarded a certificate of completion. Those seminars are

Choosing The Right Legal Structure - 6-8 p.m., Oct. 6;

Will My Business Idea Work? - 6-8 p.m., Oct. 11;

Small Business Marketing 101 - 6-8 p.m., Oct. 13;

Introduction To Business Operations and Logistics - 6-8 p.m., Oct. 18;

Understanding The Numbers That Make Business Work - 6-8 p.m., Oct. 20; and

Developing A Strong Business Plan - 6-8 p.m., Oct. 25.


All of these sessions will be held on either WebEx or Zoom. The link to each seminar will be emailed to the participant after the registration process is complete.


The Boots 2 Business seminar is an entrepreneurial education and training program that provides an overview of business ownership specifically for active-duty military, military dependents, and veterans. Multiple in-person, two-day options are available: Sept. 12 and 13, Oct. 3 and Oct. 4, Nov. 7 and 8, and Dec. 5 and 6. The workshops are scheduled for 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in Room 104 of the Walnut Building on the college campus.
