Literacy Connections Fundraiser: Reading Between the Wines

Literacy Connections is dedicated to developing skills in reading, math, computers, and financial management for adults and their families so they may achieve success at home, at work, and in the community.

Support our local literacy council by joining us on Friday, October 27, for Reading Between the Wines, an intimate reception with North Carolina author, Clyde Edgerton, in the iconic Terrace Room in downtown Goldsboro. Guests will enjoy fine wine provided by Healthabit, hors d’oeuvres prepared by local gourmets, and conversation with the author. Following the reception, Mr. Edgerton will appear at the Paramount Theatre to entertain the audience with music and authentic, Southern storytelling.

Clyde Edgerton is the author of nine novels, including Walking Across Egypt, Raney, and The Bible Salesman. These novels are full of Southern charm and the eccentric characters that populate small towns. His tenth novel, The Night Train, tells the story of a friendship between two teen boys, one black and one white, who find escape in their shared love of music in the segregated South in 1963. Mr. Edgerton has received the North Carolina Award for Literature as well as five Notable Book Awards from the New York Times. He is currently the Thomas S. Kenan III professor of Creative Writing at UNC Wilmington.

VIP tickets are $75 each and include the reception. General admission tickets to the Paramount program and book signing are $40 each. Tickets are available through the Paramount website at goldsboroparamount.com or call 919.735.1990 for information.
