Celebrating Mr. Percy Royal and Royal's Classic Barber Shop!

Mr. Percy has been downtown since 1985 as one of the first business owners of color. Starting out on Mulberry Street, and relocating 3 times, he landed on Center Street in the year of 2002.

He started cutting hair as a young boy in 6th grade, and continued to pursue his passion for cutting by attending the Harris Barber College in Raleigh, NC later own. Overcoming many challenges, as Mr. Percy proudly says "yet I rise", still serving the community today.

He has helped launch the careers of 17 young black barbers in the community. His motto is “as he rises he plans to bring others with him.”
