A Message From Goldsboro Police Chief, Mike West

It has come to our attention that some residents have received a letter from a national organization referencing “quality of life policing” and encouraging recipients to sign a petition and submit a financial donation. While the letter includes references to the City of Goldsboro and its City Council, please know that it was not generated by or in coordination with the City of Goldsboro or the Goldsboro Police Department.

The content of the letter reflects a national campaign and appears to be broadly distributed to communities across the country. While it raises general concerns about crime and public order, it does not necessarily reflect the current conditions or challenges facing our community. The Goldsboro Police Department is actively engaged with residents, city officials, and local organizations to address public safety through balanced, community-informed strategies.

Additionally, the Goldsboro Police Department is not soliciting donations of any kind in connection with this letter or any related petition effort. Any funding for law enforcement in our city is handled through the established public budgeting process and remains transparent and accountable to the community we serve.

We appreciate those who are committed to public safety and civic engagement. If you ever have questions or would like to know more about our ongoing efforts, programs, or priorities, I encourage you to reach out directly.

Sincerely,

Chief Michael West

Goldsboro Police Department
