As the United States prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary, many Americans will reflect on the nation's history, achievements, and enduring spirit of independence. This milestone also provides an opportunity to think about a different kind of independence which is the ability to live a healthy, active, and fulfilling life.

Good health supports independence at every age. It allows us to work, learn, care for our families, participate in our communities, and enjoy the activities we love. Small daily choices can have a lasting impact on our health and well-being. Regular physical activity, healthy eating, preventive screenings, quality sleep, stress management, and staying connected with others we love can all contribute to better health outcomes.

Just as our nation has grown and adapted over the past 250 years, we can continue to make positive changes that support our personal health journey. Even small steps, such as taking a daily walk, drinking more water, scheduling a checkup, or learning more about a health condition, can make a meaningful difference over time.

As we celebrate America's 250th birthday, consider making a commitment to your own independence by investing in your health. The choices you make today can help you maintain the freedom, strength, and quality of life needed to enjoy the years ahead and continue doing the things that matter most to you.
