Big Jim's Pizza: A Family Tradition

The Thomas family has served Goldsboro and Wayne County for almost 100 years. The tradition started in the 1920’s with NJ Thomas Sr. (Big Jim). He purchased the property on 117 South and started the Western Steak House.

NJ Thomas Jr., better known as (Jimmy) continued the tradition of running the Steak House and introduced pizza to North Carolina, until a devastating fire closed the business in 1962. Jack and NJ Thomas, III, (Little Jimmy) are the children of Jimmy and Gay Thomas. Jack purchased the Western Steak House property in the early eighties and the adjacent Big Jim's Pizza property 15 years ago.

The goal when opening Big Jim's pizza was to continue the tradition of serving the residents of Wayne County with a quality product. They make their dough daily from scratch in their kitchen and the toppings are all fresh ingredients. Their staff is there to help in any way they can to make your dining experience a pleasure.

They are proud to say that they are Veteran owned and operated, as Jack is the third in line to have served in the military. He was an MP with the Army, his Father an Airman with the Air Force and his Grandfather served two terms in the French Foreign Legion before settling in Warsaw, NC. The General Manager, Mike Beckman also proudly served in the Air Force. They hope their story continues for many generations to come and would love the opportunity to serve you and your family and make their place your place.
