WCPS Holds Retirement Ceremony

Goldsboro, N.C. - After many years of dedicated service to Wayne County Public Schools, 74 retiring employees were recognized on Wednesday, June 8, at the district’s 2015-2016 Retirement Ceremony, held at Lane Tree Golf Club and Conference Center.

“This annual event honors employees for their years of dedicated service to both our school district and to North Carolina public education,” states Dr. Yvette Smith Mason, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. “Regardless of their role or position with our school district, these retirees have helped support the business of education and as a result have impacted the lives of countless students during their employment. We wish all of them a wonderful retirement.”

Retirees were thanked for their hard work and commitment to education, and then were each presented a plaque for their faithful service to the district. Board of Education members Arnold Flowers and Rick Pridgen presented plaques, and thanked them both for their leadership and dedicated service to Wayne County Public Schools.

All total, retirees had a cumulative 1,725 years employed in the education profession in North Carolina. The 2015-2016 retirees are as follows:
