Let me begin by saying that you know your own body better than anyone else. That’s why it’s so important to be your own health advocate. This means speaking up for yourself when it comes to your health. It’s about asking questions, understanding your options, sharing how you feel, and making decisions that are right for your body.
A great way to learn more about your health is to check out trusted websites like MedlinePlus, the Mayo Clinic, and the Cleveland Clinic. They have easy-to-understand, reliable information you can use to understand your conditions, treatments, and options.
When you go to appointments, don’t be afraid to ask questions. Simple ones like, “What are my choices?” or “What are the risks and benefits?” can help you feel more confident and in control. Keep track of your medications, test results, and anything else about your health. Bring notes and be honest about how you’re feeling.
Remember, you are the most important member of your healthcare team. By learning, asking questions, and speaking up, you can make the best choices for your health because no one knows your body like you do.
