Aidan’s Sweets

Eleven-year-old Aidan Honeycutt, an aspiring pastry chef and proprietor of Aidan’s Sweets, recommends his “scratch-made” cheesecakes to patrons visiting the Curb-Side Sale at the Goldsboro Maxwell Center on Friday afternoons from 3-6pm. “I’ve known I wanted to be a chef since I was three years old. I love food and I love creating and baking sweets for people,” said Aidan.

A few years ago, he entered a cheesecake in a 4-H Favorite Foods show and placed second. Ever since that contest, he has tried and tweaked different recipes and has come up with what he describes as the “perfect cheesecake.” To date, Aidan has made “perfectly plain,” chocolate ganache, key lime, reduced fat and sugar lemon, mango topped, blueberry topped, and strawberry topped 4-inch and 9-inch cheesecakes. Upon request, he will also make a vegan cheesecake.

He says the money he makes from sales goes directly back into his business so he can purchase ingredients for his next batches. He is also already saving money for culinary school. He wants to attend either The Culinary Institute of America or the French Pastry School in New Orleans.

Also, if you visit his table, you will notice a carafe that he is using to collect money for the Goldsboro chapter of Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, which helps feed and clothe those who are in need.

Aidan takes custom cheesecake orders in person, by phone, and through social media. His fans can keep up with him through Aidan’s Sweets Facebook and Instagram pages that his mom manages at https://www.facebook.com/aidanssweets/, by calling 919-709-5596 or email at aidanssweets@gmail.com.
