Sherry Archibald Named the New Wayne County's United Way Executive Director
Yesterday, United Way of Wayne County announced that Sherry Archibald, Director of the City of Goldsboro’s Paramount Theatre, will take over the position of Executive Director of United Way, after eleven years with the Paramount.
Archibald started with the City in 2000 in the Downtown Development office. After a brief hiatus, she joined the Paramount Theatre when it reopened in 2008 after a fire destroyed the original property in 2005. As Director of the newly-formed department, she initiated several new programs and practices, most notably, the Paramount Performing Arts Series, which has brought a variety of professional artists from all over the world to the Paramount stage as a cultural asset to our community.
Archibald is excited about this new opportunity, partly because the two Mayors and numerous Council
members under whom she has served have been so enthusiastic about building a stronger community. She remarked, “My seat at the Paramount has been a true privilege. Thanks to the City leadership, Paramount Theatre Foundation, sponsors and volunteers, we’ve flourished in 11 years; and I have no doubt that the next Director will move us to another level. I can’t wait to see it, and join our patrons in the audience to celebrate.”
