Goldsboro, the Paramount Theatre, The Malpass Brothers, To Be Featured in Public Television Document
GOLDSBORO, N.C. – The Paramount Theatre Foundation will sponsor a documentary about the rise to fame of two popular Goldsboro natives and the resurgence of downtown Goldsboro. The Malpass Brothers: Heading Home will feature the Malpass Brothers’ concert at the Paramount Theatre on January 13, 2017, an annual fundraiser for the Paramount Theatre Foundation and part of the Paramount Performing Arts Series.
The film will premiere at the Paramount Theatre’s 10th Anniversary Gala on February 16, 2018. It has garnered interest from North Carolina Public Television, UNC-TV for statewide broadcast. It will feature Christopher (30) and Taylor (26) Malpass behind the scenes with friends, family and teachers – an opportunity learn more about their creative process and witness their passion for music up close.
The filmmakers call the film a story of preservation: a documentary about preserving a city, the boys and the music they love. Donna Campbell and Georgann Eubanks of Minnow Media have won three regional Emmys for full-length documentaries about life and culture in North Carolina since they first teamed up for Ruth and Billy Graham: What Grace Provides in 2000.
They are also familiar with the arts scene in Goldsboro since a recent short film on Goldsboro’s jazz scene for the North Carolina Arts Council.
The goals of the film are to inspire other young musicians to pursue their dreams; build community pride and broaden statewide awareness of Goldsboro’s downtown revitalization and developing arts scene; and provide broader recognition of the Malpass Brothers’ passion to preserve and foster classic country music.
The Foundation is raising funds to offset the cost of the project and will host a VIP reception and offer up-close, on-stage seating to VIP sponsors. For sponsorship information, contact the Paramount Theatre Foundation at 919-735-4959 or the Paramount Theatre at 919-583-8432.
