Raleigh Daycare Worker Charged With Roughing up Toddler

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Raleigh police are charging a daycare worker with striking a toddler and handling him roughly.

Police spokeswoman Laura Hourigan said Tuesday 46-year-old Tracey Stallings was charged with misdemeanor child abuse after the incident last week. Stallings did not have an active, listed telephone number and could not be reached for comment.

Hourigan said an 18-month-old boy in the woman's care at an Appletree Day Care Center in Raleigh was slightly injured.

WRAL reported (http://bit.ly/2dMrvZB ) the boy's mother said she saw a video recording of the incident captured on a surveillance camera. Kassandra Sharpe said her son's teacher threw the boy into a bookcase and hit him on the head with a container.
