Wayne County Sheriff Needs Your Help! Very Unique Mask

On July 11, 2016, at approximately 11:00 pm, the Handy Mart Store located at 2495 U S Highway 13 North, Goldsboro, NC was robbed at gunpoint by three unknown black male subjects.

Deputies of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to this location in reference to a call for assistance from the clerk. The investigation revealed that the clerk was in the process of closing and securing the store for the evening. The clerk reported and video surveillance confirmed that multiple black male subjects approached from the left/south side of the store and forced him at gunpoint to re-enter the store.

The clerk was held at gunpoint while one of the subjects went behind the counter removing lottery tickets and tobacco products. Sometime during this incident, the clerk attempted to escape when the subjects began shooting and the clerk was struck by gunfire. Evidence obtained so far has determined that three subjects are involved.

The investigation continues and the Sheriff’s Office is requesting the assistance of the public for any information. Det. Anthony Mullis and Lt. The owners of the Handy Mart, E. J. Pope & Son, Inc., are offering a reward of $5,000.00 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those individuals responsible for this crime. This $5,000.00 reward is in addition to any reward/monies offered by Crime Stoppers.
