Pig in the Park
PIG IN THE PARK, presented by Goldsboro Milling Company and Sam's Club in partnership with Goldsboro Wayne County Travel and Tourism and the Downtown Goldsboro Development Corporation, is a series of events celebrating Wayne County’s barbecue tradition. On Saturday, April 9, up to 24 teams will compete in a whole-hog cook off for the title of Wayne County’s Best Barbecue! But, PIG IN THE PARK is more than just a cook-off! Arts and crafts vendors, bouncy houses for the kids, live music, and a whole lot more will be featured during the festival at Old Waynesborough in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Wayne County.

James Brown (Chadwick Boseman) was born in extreme poverty in 1933 South Carolina and survived abandonment, abuse and jail to become one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. He joined a gospel group as a teenager, but the jazz and blues along the "chitlin' circuit" became his springboard to fame. Each April, in honor of Autism Awareness Month, NIA holds its largest annual fundraiser, Rockin’ With AWETISM®. This community-wide event offers several family-focused activities. Some of this year’s festivities will include crafts, games, inflatables, live entertainment, raffles and lots of food! There will also be a silent auction with many wonderful items including trips, sports memorabilia, and jewelry among many other amazing options. People are also encouraged to participate by taking pledges to rock (in rocking chairs) or play video games. It will be held at NIA, which meets in the fellowship hall of Rosewood Worship Center, located at 2103 O’Berry Center Road.
