James Gregory at The Paramount

James Gregory is the funniest man in America, and if you don’t believe me head over to his website to see him declare it yourself. For 37 years Gregory has been a staple of Southern and Midwestern comedy clubs, the sort of legend local comics tell each other about unexpected acts who blew them away. Even as the mainstream industry has largely ignored him, Gregory plays to sold-out crowds across America drawn in by his brilliant stories and lack of swearing. Oh yeah, did I mention he’s a mostly clean comic?

Tickets are available at The Paramount box office for $32-$37.

Movie Night at The Paramount

James and the Giant Peach

A Paramount movie night is a unique experience and is very different than visiting your regular movie theatre. It’s wonderful to see younger audiences watching these films on the big screen for the first time or others coming to relive their memories associated with each film. Popcorn, candy, and drinks are available for purchase and your concessions purchases are allowed in the auditorium (food and drink are not allowed in the auditorium during live-events). We often decorate specifically for the theme of the movie night and sometimes offer giveaway items as souvenirs. Come enjoy a movie at the Paramount Theatre!

Featuring stop-motion animation and live action, this inventive adaptation of Roald Dahl's beloved children's tale follows the adventures of James (Paul Terry), an orphaned young British boy. Forced to live with his cruel aunts (Joanna Lumley, Miriam Margolyes), James finds a way out of his bleak existence when he discovers an enormous enchanted peach. After rolling into the sea inside the buoyant fruit, James, accompanied by a crew of friendly talking insects, sets sail for New York City.

Tickets are $5.

Violet Bell at The Paramount

Violet Bell’s original Americana is woven from threads of folk, soul, bluegrass, psychedelic, and classical music.  On stage and in the studio, the energy between Lizzy Ross and Omar Ruiz-Lopez is fiery, intimate and intuitive. Based out of Durham, the pair have played shows from Montreal to Miami since forming in 2016, resulting in a strong onstage chemistry that’s evident in person and in videos of these live performances.
