Monday, September 26, 2016

On Saturday, September 24, 2016 at approximately 11:22pm, the Goldsboro Police Department was dispatched to a traffic crash involving a pedestrian in the area of the service road (SR 1591) near America’s Best Value Inn (701 US Hwy 70 E).

Upon the arrival of police units and other emergency personnel, it was determined that Windom Levi Elliott, 39yo W/M, of Show Low, Arizona had been struck by a vehicle while he was walking along the edge of the service road.  Mr. Elliott succumbed to his injuries sustained during the crash at the scene.

The vehicle that struck Mr. Elliott fled the scene before police arrival.  Mr. Elliott and the suspect vehicle were both traveling east on the service road when the crash occurred.

The Goldsboro Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating the driver of the vehicle and the vehicle involved in this fatal traffic crash.  So far, the investigation has determined that the suspect vehicle is a dark blue possibly a Ford F-150 type pick-up truck, 2004 – 2008 year model, possibly with a bed cover.

The truck will have front right side (headlight area) and right side-view mirror damage.  After striking Mr. Elliott, the truck fled the scene traveling east along the service road toward Wayne Memorial Drive.  Anyone having information related to this investigation is asked to contact Officer M. Marino or Sergeant J. Stine at the Goldsboro Police Department at (919) 580-4273.

The above pictured truck is similar to the suspect vehicle in make and model being sought in this investigation; however, it is not the suspect vehicle.  It is shown here for reference purposes only.
