Friends of Law Enforcement Day and Dinner

Your Donations Are Appreciated!

A few weeks ago a local retired businessman, George Williams was watching TV and saw where 5 police officers in Dallas were shot and killed and soon thereafter, several more were killed in Baton Rouge, La.

George decided something needed to be done to honor and show our support for local law enforcement officers in Wayne County. He contacted family and friends and formed a committee to come up with an idea. Committee members included retired Police Chief, Jackie Warrick, his daughter, Denise Combs and friends, Rita Pierce and Suzie Daniels. Soon the idea gave birth to the Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner.

George then went before the County Commissioners and the Goldsboro City Council, presenting his idea. Everyone liked it as Mayor Chuck Allen of Goldsboro proclaimed September 8th, Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.

To go along with the new proclamation, on September 8th, all law enforcement officers in Wayne County are invited to a free dinner at the Wayne Center, located at the corner of George and Chestnut St in Goldsboro from 4p.m. to 7p.m. McCall’s BBQ will provide the food.

George is encouraging everyone to help support this great cause. He says donations to make this a great event will be accepted from everyone to include individuals, businesses, churches and banks! He says he hopes to make this an annual event to show how much we really care about our law enforcement officers.

If you would like to show your support, please make out your check and mail it to: Friends of Law Enforcement, P.O. Box 10217, Goldsboro, NC 27533. You’ll be glad you did!
