Family Dollar Store Suspect Arrested
On 12-10-2015 at approximately 8:16 p.m. a black male subject walked into the Family Dollar located at 1403 Wayne Memorial Drive and brandished a knife and robbed the store. No employees were injured during the robbery and the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction. The case was assigned to the Goldsboro Police Department Criminal Investigations. During the investigation a suspect was developed. Warrants were secured on Quentin Bryce Barnes a 31 year old black male of 1303 N George Street.
On 7-20-2016 Mr. Barnes was arrested during a traffic stop conducted by officers of the Goldsboro Police Department. Mr. Barnes had a fugitive warrant out of Greenville, NC as well as the warrant from the robbery of the Family Dollar Store in Goldsboro. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail under a $775,000.00 secured bond for the Goldsboro charge and held with no bond on the Greenville NC charge, and is awaiting extradition on that charge.

On 07-20-16, Goldsboro Police Department A-Shift was called to a disturbance in the 800 block of Olivia Lane. When officers arrived they located a female victim, reporting that Quentin Barnes had attempted to sexually assault her prior to fleeing the area. The victim provided officers with a description of the vehicle Barnes was driving and he was located leaving the area. A traffic stop was conducted and it was determined that Barnes had several outstanding warrants, which he was taken into custody and transported to the Magistrate’s Office.
During the investigation it was revealed that Barnes was at the female victim’s house and attempted to sexually assault her with the victim’s young child present. The victim was able to fight off Barnes and called the police, which prompted Barnes to flee. On 07-21-16, Barnes was charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Sex Offense, Assault on a Female, and Communicating Threats. Barnes was already in the Wayne County Detention Center at the time charges were filed. Barnes received an additional $150,000 secured bond and has a first appearance on Monday, 07-25-16.
