My Burning Bush Experience Jessica Daly – My Daly Outreach

Have you ever envied Moses over the burning bush experience? I often wish God would just verbally speak to me the way He did for Moses. You can’t be any more certain about it being the voice of God than when God speaks in an audible voice from a burning bush that is not being consumed by the flames. Wow! Except for the fact that God did send another to “speak” to us if we would only open our hearts, minds, and ears to what He is saying. The Holy Spirit’s desire is to communicate with us and direct us in the way God has ordained. When we listen to the Holy Spirit we will hear things just as clearly as Moses did standing before the burning bush.

Everyone needs what I call a “spiritual mentor” as they maneuver the Christian walk. One of mine is Mrs. Janice Marshburn. I met Janice many years ago through the IPHC Women’s Ministry. The first time I heard her preach I knew she was not only anointed but someone God had chosen to speak and minister into my life. As the years have passed, I can still call upon Janice for immediate prayer knowing I will receive Holy Spirit led counsel and direction. Janice’s friendship causes me to love the Lord more with each passing experience. Her love for the Lord is like fire. It is beautiful and draws you in with its warmth.

This past week I sent an urgent prayer request to Janice and soon after she sent me Exodus 3:7, 8. When this happens I immediately know God has used her as a vessel and the message is for me from Him. As I read the scriptures I wept for it spoke directly to a situation I was enduring. I had prayed and prayed but have yet to see results, but while reading the verses I felt immediate peace. This chapter of Exodus is the story of when God spoke to Moses through the burning bush. In verse 7 God tells Moses that He has “seen the misery of His people” and has “heard them crying out”. To be assured that my Lord has not only seen what is taking place but that He hears my cries for help gave my heart comfort as nothing else could. Then in verse 8 God tells us “I have come down to rescue them” which shows He is ever present and protects us from the snare of the fowler. He continues by saying He will bring us up out of the situations we are in and put us into a “good and spacious” place that is full of blessings. What more could God do to sooth our hurting hearts than to remind us of these promises?

As I continued to read this chapter I was drawn to verse 12 where God simply tells all of us, “I will be with you.” To know God is with me makes all the other stuff in life seem pretty small and meaningless. To know that God still speaks and still cares so much that He sends a dear friend a scripture to share with me as a personal message leaves me in absolute awe. God cares and says these things to ALL of His children, which includes you. Take these words for truth and stand on His promises today.
