New WCPS Superintendent Sworn In

On July 1, Dr. Michael Dunsmore was sworn in as the new superintendent for Wayne County Public Schools. Dr. Dunsmore previously served as superintendent for Tyrrell County Schools since 2009. The Wayne County Board of Education unanimously voted to name him superintendent on Friday, May 15. Since then, Dr. Dunsmore has made weekly visits to Wayne County to learn more about the district he will be leading. "I am honored to be selected as the Superintendent of Wayne County Public School," stated Dr. Dunsmore. "I know there is a tremendous amount of work ahead of us. This school district has a proud and rich history of student success. I want to build upon that foundation and will work to make Wayne County Public Schools a district everyone can be proud of."
