While hobbies are often spent for relaxation and joy, some people’s joys can make a big difference. How do you spend your free time?
Sarah Kearney is an amazing advocate for Mission Children’s Hospital, who puts an extra amount of personal thought and effort into her contribution. She spends her free time knitting blankets and hats for premature babies in the NICU, making sure they are dressed warmly and with love.
The Goldsboro, NC resident was inspired a few years ago at a Kiwanis International presentation given by Pastor Billy Graham’s daughter, Ruth. She spoke to the charitable club about the western North Carolina region’s needs for prenatal care, emphasizing just how many babies are born extremely small and in poor health. Ruth gave each member of the audience a preemie diaper. The tiny size of the diaper inspired Sarah to help these babies and their families.
Sarah says, “It’s always on my heart about the little babies.” Knowing how much of a difference people can make for these children, she urges, “There are a lot of people who knit and crochet that can help. Anyone who has some free time and wants to feel good about what they are doing should contact Mission Foundation.”
