WCPS to Graduate 1,200 Students

Goldsboro, N.C. - Wayne County Public Schools will graduate approximately 1,200 seniors at the end of the 2013-14 school year. Over the next week, the district’s six traditional high schools will graduate 1,077 seniors. The district’s two non-traditional high schools, Wayne Early/Middle College High and Wayne School of Engineering, held commencement ceremonies in May. The two schools had 130 graduates. Administrators say the graduation season is an exciting time of the year for the district. “Graduates receive countless hours of instruction, guidance and support while enrolled in our schools to assist them in reaching this academic milestone,” states, Dr. Steven Taylor, WCPS Superintendent. “Our school communities look forward to commencement ceremonies, which recognize graduates for their achievement and celebrate their hard work and success in earning their diploma.”

It is worth noting that 37 of the 61 Wayne Early/Middle College High graduates have already earned Associates Degrees from Wayne Community College. Seven of the 69 Wayne School of Engineering graduates earned Associates Degrees as well.
